Man United looking to rebuild under Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was recently appointed Manchester United’s permanent boss.

While the appointment may have been seen as a bit premature, OGS had gone 13 Premier League games unbeaten with United since taking over.

Since his permanent appointment though, United haven’t looked at their best.

They lost both Champions League quarter-finals to Barca, lost to Wolves in the league and struggled to beat West Ham last weekend.

After losing to Barcelona on Tuesday, Solskjaer has admitted the club needs to undergo a serious rebuilding job:

“The next few years will be massive for us to get to the level of Barcelona.

“We have got good players and, at the moment, we really have done well to get to the quarters and to get in the challenge for the top four.

“We have got a rebuilding job but that starts with the coaches and the players and one or two additions to the squad will happen in the summer.”As quoted by BBC Sport.

Man United’s summer targets

While Solskjaer suggested above that one or two players may come to Old Trafford this summer, ESPN believes there could be as many as six new additions this window.

Unsurprisingly, two of the names on the list are centre-backs, Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly.

United’s defence is certainly one of their weaker points and signing one or both of the above players would improve their squad greatly.

ESPN also claims United are monitoring Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez. The midfielder could replace Ander Herrera, should he fail to sign a new contract this summer.

The final three names on the list are an English trio of Jadon Sancho, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Declan Rice.
