Bangladesh and their spinner Mehidy Hasan received a scare on Sunday in Southampton as he was struck on the head during a practice session. However, the 21-year-old is out of danger, but concussion reports are still still awaited.
The incidents apparently occurred when Sabbir Rahman played a lofted shot against a delivery bowled by Mashrafe Mortaza and it hit the side of Mehidy’s head who was padded up to replace him in the nets.
Mehidy, who was giving an interview on the side lines at that time, fell down after being struck, leaving the team worried. However, it did not last long as he recovered soon after the arrival of physio Thian Chandra Mohan and media manager Rabeed Imam.
”Mehidy apparently wanted to continue batting in the nets but was not allowed to,” BCB media manager Rabeed Imam told reporters.
Bangladesh are already suffering from several injury concerns with Mohammad Saifuddin and Mosaddek Hossain missing the last game against Australia.
”He [Mehidy] was hit by a ball but as far as I know he is fine at the moment,” said head coach Steve Rhodes adding the rest is dependent on the outcome of the physio report that he will give after assessing Mehidy.
