Romelu Lukaku hints at Manchester United exit

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has today opened the door to a future move to Italy.

Lukaku’s second season struggles

25-year-old hitman Lukaku made the move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2017 for a hefty £75 million fee.

However, following a solid debut campaign in Manchester, during which he notched an impressive 27 goals across all competitions, the Belgian has since struggled to replicate such form to this point in the current season.

All told, Lukaku has managed 15 goals for the Red Devils, though 6 of these came during a 3-game purple patch between the end of February and beginning of March.

In addition, crucially, the all-round centre-forward play of the former Chelsea man has left a lot to be desired.

‘A dream’

As such, Lukaku’s struggles have led to inevitable rumours that the Belgian could be on the move come the summer, amid claims of a potential Manchester United squad overhaul.

In fact, James Ducker of the Telegraph claimed just last week that the board at Old Trafford are ready to listen to offers for their burly hitman:

And, amid further reports that Lukaku is being eyed up by Serie A outfit Inter Milan as a potential replacement for Mauro Icardi, the 25-year-old has today opened the door to a move to Italy.

When questioned on the possibility of plying his trade in Serie A at some point in the future during an interview with Sky Italia’s Lords of Football, Lukaku explained:

‘Playing in Serie A is a dream. It would really be a dream.’

‘I hope to be able to play sooner or later. Even if at the moment I am focused on United.’
