Why Chelsea’s Frank Lampard reservations need to be put to one side

Chelsea reportedly have reservations over the inexperience of Frank Lampard’s backroom staff. Here’s why such concerns are unjustified.

The Times claim that Chelsea are not entirely convinced Jody Morris and Chris Jones are adequately experienced for the roles they could be set to walk into.

Both would presumably follow Lampard to Stamford Bridge, but there appears to be an element of doubt as to whether they have the expertise.

Let it go, Chels…

We should not be having a conversation about whether these two men are sufficiently experienced when we’re poised to appoint a manager with one year’s experience.

If we are to take this approach, we have to jump in with two feet. That’s the only way that the nature of operations at the club are truly going to change, long-term.

Yes, we could hire Lampard an experienced backroom, full of coaches who have been a part of great triumphs and are better rounded as a result.

However, they wouldn’t be Chelsea men. We’d be hiring Lampard because of his connection to the club. The same goes for Morris and Jones, who know Chelsea football club.

We see Lampard having two former Chelsea men behind him as a positive, and the club ought to as well. They’re ready – and if given the chance – they’ll prove it.
